About the Training Quality Assurance System
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), Section for Childcare Regulation, requires that trainings offered for clock-hours for child care licensing purposes must be approved through the Training Quality Assurance System (TQAS). TQAS was established to promote quality professional development opportunities for early childhood, school-age and youth development professionals statewide. This process offers trainers two approval options: Standard Training Approval and the Enhanced Training Approval.
Child Care Aware® of Missouri’s Role in TQAS
In order to support TQAS, Child Care Aware® of Missouri has streamlined the process of approval by becoming the central clearinghouse for receiving training requests. We will route the requests to the appropriate entity for approval, track approved trainings and make clock-hour training information available on a statewide basis.
How Do I Get A Training Approved?
Trainers who are interested in offering training to early childhood, school-age and youth development professionals must first submit a request for approval through the Missouri Workshop Calendar Enhanced Training Approval requests will be reviewed by Child Care Aware® of Missouri and Standard Approval requests will be reviewed by DHSS. Enhanced Training Approval applications can be submitted by following the guidelines outlined in Child Care Aware® of Missouri’s Enhanced Training Approval Instructional Guide. Enhanced Training Approval requests must be submitted via the online application.
What Should I Expect After I Have Submitted My Training Application?
Upon receipt of an Enhanced Training Approval request, Child Care Aware® of Missouri will notify you via email that the request has been received. Requests are then reviewed using a scoring guide to determine the criteria for approval have been met.
Within 30 days, you will receive a second email confirming approval (or denial) of the Enhanced Training Approval request. If the application is denied approval, Child Care Aware® of Missouri will provide feedback about the application and make the results of the scoring guide available for review. After the application has been revised, it can be resubmitted for approval.
After Enhanced Training Approval, Then What Do I Do?
Each time an Enhanced Training is offered, it must be published on the Missouri Workshop Calendar. You will choose the training from your training library in the calendar and add training-specific information including:
- date
- location
- sponsoring organization
- cost
- contact information for the training.
You will also choose your registration preferences including:
- number of participant spaces available
- dates to open and close registration
- make the training private
- make registration private.
The training will then be published on the calendar and you will receive an email notification providing your event-specific approval number. This approval number must be included on the Certificates of Attendance that are provided to participants at the conclusion of approved training.
